The Carrier Bag
Manifesto Bundle
BaseCamp PopUp
Istituto Sant’Eugenio
Via al Sasso 1, Locarno
Taking inspiration from Ursula K. Le Guin’s Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction, accessory designer Flora Pagliarani proposed offering participants a container that could serve a practical function, such as carrying a picnic, or a more symbolic one, such as holding memories of the experience.
In connection with the theme of refuge, the simple and primal object of the bundle was chosen.
During the festival, the participants/collectors will use it to store all the echoes they want to preserve and take home with them after the 10-day event.
Each person can choose how to use this symbolic item, carrying with them a unique and personal meaning while still being part of a collective story. Each bundle is unique and numbered, made from reclaimed fabric, resulting in a series of 250 distinct pieces — all different, yet unified by the same manifesto label.
What you carry, carries you.
Our first tools were not weapons, but containers.
Use this bag to hold what you cherish and wish to highlight.
